The Latest Fixed-Blade Knives That Deserve to Be Collected
Katz Knives have added three relatively new and terrifically crafted blades to the already overcrowded fixed-blade knives market. First, they released the simple looking, yet elegant ‘Avenger Stippled Kraton’ blade, which I hear is currently selling very well on the market. Second, they have produced made of XT-80 stainless steel blade called ‘Kat 103 Stippled Kraton’. The third blade they produced is called the ‘Lion King Premium 302 Stippled Kraton’ and this one is simply out of this world.
These are truly high quality knives and they help as weapons for self-defense, for survival and well, pretty much for any occasion! Also be on the lookout for a number of tough and rugged fixed-blade knives from distinguished blade manufactures like Cold Steel, Camillus, Hogue Knives and Top Knives. It is reported that the ‘Warcraft Tanto’ knife from Cold Steel was released a few months back and fixed-blade knife aficionados have been raving about it.
In the present fixed-blade knives market, just when we thought we had it all, Camillus put out the breathtaking ‘DAGR’ blade with an overall length of 10.5 inches and weighing just 10.1 ounces. This knife is set to become ultra popular. Top Knives announced last year that they will be releasing a couple of real special fixed-blades. Well, those blades have been released and they are the ‘C.A.T. 203’ and ‘C.A.T. 200S-04.’ The latter’s blade length is only 7.25 inches. That’s right, plus the blade itself is composed of 1095 RC 56-58 steel.
SOG has finally released the ‘Seal Strike’ knife. Starting at $83, its super cool handle is made out of glass reinforced nylon and stainless steel. The overall length is 9.6 inches, and if you ask me, this one is a must-buy! Zac Brown’s Southern Grind's 'The Rat Neck Knife' is a nice addition to anyone's fixed-blade knife collection. The knife is of impeccable quality, complete with skeletonized handle. It should sell well I reckon.

It's also time to start thinking about knives made by GERBER. This time around, GERBER came up with a unique fixed-blade known simply as ‘Ghostrike’ which has suggested retail price of $83 per pop. Another offering by GERBER is the ‘Strongarm Fixed Blade’. This knife is equipped with an ultra cool handle composed of glass-filled nylon with rubber overmold. The price is also affordable – retailing at just $86.
Mission Knives on the other hand, released a high end knife with a glass-filled nylon handle, A2 steel blade material and an overall length of 10 inches. The name of the knife is ‘CSP-A2’ and has a suggested retail price of $250 a pop. And then, there’s KA-BAR with their ‘Becker Clear Coat Companion’ fixed-blade which looks like my mother’s favorite kitchen knife! The knife’s handle is green in color and composed of Zytel. The very popular Buck Knives company issued two spectacular knives called the ‘119 Brahma’ and the oddly named ‘Matt Would Go.’ The retail prices are $115 and $245 respectively. I’m very much interested in the latter, and I plan on adding it to my collection soon.

Fixed-Blade That’s Smashing the Competition
As far as Böker goes, it looks like the ‘Applegate 5.5 Century Edition Special Run’ has completely outdone the competition. With its stylish and tough as nails look, the competition wasn't even there. The Applegate 5.5 fixed-blade is a real keeper like most knives put out by Böker. It has a rosewood handle which looks real classy.
Microtech Knives announced a while back that their ‘Arbiter’ blade was set to release early last year. However, it was delayed for a few months. Now the good news is, the Arbiter has been released and it is one damn amazing knife! Its overall length is 14 inches and weighs 18 ounces. Price starts at $400, so good luck finding a decent deal.
As seen here we got a photo of the Arbiter (unfortunately, without its sheath – I misplaced it!).
There will be sixteen more premium fixed-blade knives to be released before the end of the first half of this year, 10 knives from established manufacturers, and 6 from independent knife makers. The blades will be attached to handles made from a wide range of materials such as G-10/FR4 composite, rubberized co-molded, 9Cr18Mo stainless steel, camo micarta, stacked Leather with micarta spacers, green canvas micarta, black linen micarta and more.
