Can you believe it? This sharpening stone actually doubles as an antivirus software?
Of course you wouldn’t believe me… I’m just messing around. It’s just that while reading those Norton knife sharpening stone reviews on the product page, the image of Norton antivirus software kept popping in my mind!
Anyway, I’m really happy with the Norton IM200 -8.
It’s the best sharpening stone for kitchen knives and it costs less than a hundred bucks…
Yes, that’s right ladies and gentleman…At the time; I paid around $85 for the Norton IM200 -8 and that includes free shipping. I was pretty surprised that it didn’t cost more. See, some folks on the forum told me that it would cost over $100.
What I like about the Norton IM200 -8
1) It comes with 3 different sharpening stones. One stone is designed to hone cutting edges, another can be used to fix a cutting edge, and finally, there’s one for sharpening. It’s basically a system that comprises of 3 different stones and for great sharpening results; the stones must be utilized in a sequential manner.
I got to admit, this 3 stone system has a bit of a learning curve, but once you get over it, you’ll be putting some crazy sharp kitchen knives in your drawer. It’s super effective, and with a can of sharpening oil included, you can get the system going and put some wicked sharp cutting edges on your knives in no time at all.
The stones have been prefilled with oil, plus there’s a can of oil included in the box. I’d get another can just in case though. Two cans of Norton 4-1/2-ounce sharpening stone oil to go with the Norton IM200 -8, and you’re all set!
2) The stones are quite large. I have a couple of 14-inch kitchen knives in my drawer and they’ve been sharpened fantastically well, thanks to the stones. They provide decent room to sharpen knives of that size.
3) The stones are on a very sturdy base and it catches oil drips delightfully well. Yes, the base acts as a reservoir for the oil, making clean up a breeze. The base is quite large and has a real solid feel to it.

I realized that some people might deem the Norton IM200 -8 as too expensive. Sure, it’s a little on the pricey side for 3 sharpening stones, but keep in mind that it’s only a one-time purchase. I think the Norton IM200 -8 stones are all you need when it comes to sharpening kitchen knives. Once you have one at your disposal, and you know how to use it well, there’s no need to buy any other sharpening stones or any kind of fancy schmancy electric knife sharpener.
However, if you’re still on the fence due to its price tag, then I’d suggest you look into the following dual sided stone.
