Furi FUR626 Ozitech Diamond Fingers Pro Knife Sharpener Review
You know, I set up this site so I could talk about various electric knife sharpeners on the market. I’m a big fan of using electric sharpeners. Love them! I have a few different models at home, plus there are different types of units available at the kitchen where I work, and I use them on a regular basis.
However, about a year ago, I decided to purchase the Furi FUR626 Ozitech diamond fingers pro knife sharpener you see below. As you would know, this is not an electric sharpener, but I bought it anyway because I’ve heard some really good things about this “manual” sharpener. And besides, it’s relatively dirt cheap!
So how does this thing fare, really? Sure, the sharpener has a less than 20 dollar price tag, but is it worth that price? Okay read on to find out. Just keep in mind that I didn’t write this Furi knife sharpener review just so I could compare the product against a decent quality electric knife sharpener. Such comparison would be completely unfair. I’m just gonna review the Furi Ozitech knife sharpener simply own its own merits, nothing more.
First, let me talk about…
The Construction of the Sharpener…
The Furi FUR626 Ozitech sharpener is very simple looking and compact. When folded it looks a bit like a wallet or heck, it actually reminds me of that old Motorola StarTAC cell phone that was fairly popular in the late 90’s early 2000’s. Anyway, the foldable compact size is good because it prevents the sharpener from taking up too much space in the kitchen.
Also, the handy compact size means you can bring it along on your camping trips. I go camping every now and again, and when I prepare camp meals, I would use my MSR Alpine kitchen knife. Thanks to the FUR626 Ozitech, I could sharpen the knife on-the-go.
However, I have to say that the construction is a bit on the flimsy side. See, there are a couple of wing clips on the unit. One wing clip on each side, and you have to open the clips in order to unfold the sharpener. Problem is the clips are far from durable. After about 6 months or so, the right wing clip on my Furi sharpener is broken and the other one is pretty loose now. It’s only a matter of time before it shares the same fate as its twin…
Construction Rating: 3/5
Is it Easy and Safe to Use?
Yes, it’s very easy to use and to setup. Setting up the sharpener requires you to pull open the wing clips, then you open the protection halves on top and bottom of unit, rotate the bottom half, and finally click it into position to keep the sharpener open. That’s all there is to it.
Once you’ve cracked it open, just put the unit on a flat surface, grab your dull knife, place the blade between the diamond fingers of the knife sharpener, and then swipe away until the blade is sharpened.
And yes, it’s safe to use due to the protection halves of the unit. When you’re swiping the knife, make sure you place your hand on the bottom half to secure the unit on a flat surface, the top half protector will guard your hand. Just keep your hand behind the protection halves while swiping, and there’s no way you’re gonna wind up cutting yourself.

Does it Work?
It works well on kitchen knives, but if you wish to sharpen serrated knives or hunting blades, then look elsewhere. Also keep in mind that the Furi Ozitech diamond fingers pro knife sharpener does not provide razor sharp cutting quality to your dull kitchen knives. Don’t expect that factory-honed-paper-slice-test-winning edge after using it. Sorry, that’s not gonna happen.
It gives that basic cutting edge to dull kitchen knives and that’s it. Nothing wrong with that. The basic level of sharpness provided by the FUR626 Ozitech is actually very decent. I can’t complain much, especially when you consider the price.
However, it should be noted that the FUR626 Ozitech sharpener won’t work on extremely dull kitchen knives. I’m talking about knives that are so close to being blunt. For near-blunt knives, I suggest you bring them to a professional sharpening service or try using a powerful electric knife sharpener, or just dump them in the trash.
The FUR626 Ozitech diamond fingers can be effective for dull kitchen knives, but a little patience is required. From my experience, a dull knife usually requires plenty of swipes to sharpen, around 20 – 25 swipes. Such number of swipes should bring back that basic sharpening edge. As for maintenance sharpening, it would require between one to two dozen swipes.
Effectiveness Rating: 3/5
Is it Worth the Price?
Well, I’d say it’s a pretty good deal if you’re looking for a sharpener that’s capable of giving basic sharpening edge to your kitchen knives. I’ve had the sharpener for about a year now and it’s still working. Although I mentioned earlier the wing clips have been damaged. The diamond fingers are still effective, but I reckon they might wear off if used on a regular basis.
I don’t use the Furi FUR626 that much to be honest as I prefer to use electric sharpeners most of the time. I used it a lot when I first bought it and I tested the heck out of it the first couple of months. These days, I use the Furi FUR626 whenever I feel the urge to sharpen my kitchen blades manually. I’d say about once, maybe twice a month.
Now, if you use it every day, I don’t see the sharpener lasting more than 12 to 18 months. But the cost of the sharpener is less than 20 bucks, so replacing it once a year or a year and a half isn’t a big deal if you ask me.
Worth the Price Rating: 4/5

Conclusion to the Furi FUR626 Ozitech Diamond Fingers Pro Knife Sharpener Review
Worth the price, but don’t expect razor-sharp miracles from this sharpener. The construction is pretty flimsy, it’s slow to use because multiple swipes are required most of the time, and ideal only on kitchen blades. Still, a pretty decent sharpener for beginners thanks to its ease of use and simple setup. Low cost and good for general basic sharpening.
