Cheapest Electric Knife Sharpener
For a long time, I balked at buying an electric knife sharpener simply because most of them are just so expensive. Yes, there are some affordable ones out there, but according to many user reviews; these do not last very long. You see, I wanted the cheapest electric knife sharpener that could hold up for quite a while.
I thought I couldn’t find such a thing, but lo and behold…I actually found one! As far as electric knife sharpener goes, this thing is dirt cheap and honestly, the quality is very, very good. It only costs me 40 dollars and shipping was free. Unbelievable, eh? Well, better believe it folks. Here’s a picture of the sharpener.

The Things I Like About This Sharpener…
Okay, apart from the price, what I really like most about this sharpener is that it works fabulously well for both serrated and straight edge knives. Many low cost electric knife sharpeners do straight knives only, so I’m glad this sharpener is capable of sharpening both types of knives because I do have several serrated edge blades in my possession.
Using the thing is so easy. You don’t need perform any complicated steps. I read the instructions carefully to prevent any wrongdoing on my part which could cause damage to the sharpener and my knives.
Next, I proceeded to insert the knife into one of the slots and then I just pull it out in a smooth and well controlled fashion. It’s really that simple and I get top notch results every time – sharp knives all the way!
Now, it is important that you perform the process slowly. Don’t put your knife in and pull it out repeatedly in a rapid way because this approach isn’t going to sharpen the blade any quicker. Doing it too quickly is a sure-fire way to ruin the device as well as your knives.
This is one of the cheapest electric knife sharpeners on the market, so the low price tag means we won’t be getting the super fast sharpening speed that we come to expect from higher end models. The Chef's Choice 220 sharpening speed is just average in my opinion. If you want something that works fast, go for the top-of-the-line sharpeners. My cousin’s Chef’s Choice costs about $150 and that one sharpens extremely fast.
And one more positive thing to note is the size of the sharpener. It’s pretty compact and doesn’t clutter my kitchen top.
Things I Do Not Like About This Sharpener…
Well, there are a couple of things that I’m not too keen about. First, I think the power cord is a little too short. Second, the sound it makes is quite loud. The sound really annoys the heck out of me! Other than these two things, I’m happy with the Chef's Choice 220 which is the best knife sharpener on the market (electric powered) under $50.
And I would also like to add that I don’t think this sharpener is suitable for those fancy, premium knives. Yes, it’s the cheapest electric knife sharpener with very decent performance, but it doesn’t possess the qualities that are required to sharpen top-of-the-line knives. For standard everyday knives however, this thing works great and it offers outstanding value for the cost.
