Presto 08810 Professional Electric Knife Sharpener Review
A professional electric knife sharpener with a ridiculously low price tag…is this for real or what? Normally one has to bang out over a hundred bucks in order to get a real sweet, professional-style blade sharpener. However, the Presto 08810 model you see right here costs less than 50 frickin dollars!
So what gives? With such a relatively inexpensive price tag, does thing actually work as advertised or does it fall into the “too good to be true” category? Okay, tell you what…just sit back and relax because this review is gonna be pretty long.

Alright, now let me share with you my opinion on this highly affordable Presto electric knife sharpener. Firstly, I can’t help but praise the machine’s design which is extremely attractive. The shape is just right and it doesn’t look out of place if you put it on the kitchen top.
Problem is the size of sharpener. It’s pretty large. Check out the dimensions: 12 x 5 x 4 inches. This tool is a space killer! Fortunately, it doesn’t weigh so much. So from an aesthetic point of view, this tool gets my seal of approval.
Now, functionality-wise, the model 08810 Presto knife sharpener is utterly useless! It’s one of the crappiest electric sharpeners I’ve ever used….by the way folks, I’m just joking :-D Truth of the matter is this sharpener works significantly better than I originally anticipated!
It’s a snap to operate, although in the beginning, I strongly recommend that you test it out with a couple of cheap, low-grade knives so you can get the hang on how it works. There’s like a tiny learning curve involved. Nothing major, really. Besides, an instruction guide can be found in the box to help you get started the right way.
I’m sure you’ll be able to use the sharpener like a seasoned veteran after a few attempts. The tool has a knack of sharpening a dull knife in a pretty speedy way. Most dull knives can be sharpened in a couple of minutes or so, and that kind of quickness is possible thanks to the tool’s super effective three stage sharpening slots.
As for critically dull knives with pretty much zero cutting edges, you could still make them really, really sharp with the Presto 08810. BUT, it’ll definitely take longer than a minute or two. I drew my totally-lost-its-edge steak knife through all three slots and it took slightly more than 10 minutes to bring it back to its former glory. So sharp, that it even passes the paper cut test with flying colors!
Regarding the slots…well, as I mentioned just now, the Presto 08810 professional electric knife sharpener has three stage sharpening slots and you may utilize them in a variety of ways/combinations, depending on the state of your knife.
For example, if you have a knife that requires maintenance sharpening, you don’t have to go crazy with the slots. What you should do is slide the knife into stage three slot and execute maybe two or three passes. That should do the trick. Basically for maintenance sharpening, using stage three slot alone should suffice.
On the other hand, knives with ultra-poor edge would need some real crazy grinding to get back to tip-top sharp cutting condition, so to achieve that, we gotta use stage one slot. And to refine the sharpness, simply go further up from stage one all the way to stage three slot.
I should remind you that stage one slot is remarkably precise and strong, so make sure you use it with knives that have super poor cutting condition. Otherwise stick with stage two and three. These are the slots I use almost exclusively and after every pass, I make sure I alternate the sides.
So far, I’m satisfied with each result. The Presto knife sharpener works fine with my various kitchen knives, and even my favorite pocket knife. A handy blade selector adjustment switch can be found right next to slot stage two and three.
Three different adjustments are available: thin, medium and thick. Just flick to the setting you desire and sharpen away. It’s a very useful feature. Another handy design feature is the suction cups located at the bottom of the unit. I like how they keep the tool completely secure on the kitchen top.
The sharpener’s motor seems robust and the same can be said about the body. It’s appears to be durable and I reckon it should be around for quite some time.
Only thing I would knock off for is the sharpener’s size. I mention this particular con earlier, but figure I should point it out once again. A slightly smaller size would’ve been preferable. If you have a small counter top, then you might face a bit of a problem setting up this unit.
My cousin has this model and her counter top is pretty small, so she stores the unit in her cabinet and would only bring it out when necessary. A slight inconvenience, but the tool itself is excellent especially when you consider the price.
Okay, there goes my Presto 08810 professional electric knife sharpener review. Want to get more info on it including plenty of other user feedback, free deliver offer, discount offer, etc? If yes, then go ahead and use this link to check them out.
