Best Honing Steel for Knives
My younger brother Jason is an awesome guy! Last Christmas, he gave me a Global 9-piece knife set that comes complete with a nifty storage block. Goodness me, I reckon the set may have set him back as much as $600 -$700 easy…
Thanks a lot Jason…I used to think you were such a lousy brother with your constant moaning and crying. Turns out you aren’t so lousy after all…
Now, you’re just a SHOW-OFF!
Making impressive amount of dough these days, so you just had to show off by presenting me with this phenomenal gift eh?

I’m just joking, thank you once again bro!
And you folks who are still reading this, please forgive my rambling. See, I have the best set of knives in my little old kitchen thanks to my little bro, so of course, I would need the best honing steel to keep them ridiculously sharp at all times.
So that’s exactly what I went for roughly a month after I received my gift. I went online and got myself what many consider to be the best honing steel for knives, especially for Global brand ones. I’m sure you folks are well aware that Global knives are exceptionally made; therefore they also require exceptionally made honing steel such as the one on display below…
Global G-38 10-Inch Diamond Honing Steel
Now, this diamond honing steel is simply superb. I’ve used it extensively and it works wonders for both Global and non-Global knives. It’s got this real hard, sturdy construction and feels nice to grip. Even nicer is that this baby is capable of performing both honing and realigning the edges of all my kitchen knives.
Let me tell you folks, the G-38’s sharpening ability is no joke. It’s ridiculously effective at sharpening just about any type of blades. Case in point: Last week I finally found my old sushi chef’s knife. This particular knife simply vanished without a trace about 3 years ago.
Turns out it was buried in the back of one of my kitchen drawers (Note to self: must spring clean the kitchen drawers and cabinets at least once a year.). Anyway, the knife had lost its sharpness so without hesitation; I began putting the G-38 diamond honing steel to action!
Literally, within 3 strokes, the sushi knife’s sharpness came back to life. It’s like brand new and the sharpness was menacingly scary. So menacingly scary that a couple of sushi pieces that I was holding actually fell off my hand. The sushi pieces were terrified of the knife!
That’s what I thought, but in reality, I accidentally dropped the sushi as I was startled due the sound of a loud firecracker outside my place. Apparently, some guys were having fun messing with firecrackers.
Well, I got to say the G-38 is truly the best honing steel for kitchen knives, especially if those knives are premium ones and they came into your hands absolutely free of charge…Ok, ok! I’m bragging here, sorry folks!
I also used it to sharpen my Wushtof serrated utility knife. Yep, this thing works great for serrated blades too. And that’s because the rod is oval-shaped thin, thus allowing the tip of each serrated edge to be optimally sharpened.
A Little Warning: The best honing steel for knives doesn’t come cheap…
If you ask me, this product has no flaws. However, I think the cost is a bit of a letdown. No beating around the bush, this diamond honing steel is EXPENSIVE. I bought it online and paid 185 bucks for it. I thought my hands got a little sweaty when I put in my credit card details!
Fortunately, reviews of this item were overwhelmingly positive so that gave me the confidence to initiate the purchase. And yes, I’m truly happy and satisfied with it. The thing has served me well so far and I don’t see any reason to purchase any other honing/sharpening steel rods. The G-38 is more than sufficient for my needs and it’s the best honing steel money can buy. To learn more about it and read various reviews of the product, simply head over to the link you see below.
